diary introduction

Quite often visitors of my homepage or friends of mine asked questions concerning the most simple things in the life of a snake-keeper. Most simple, if you have already been keeping the animals for a few years. From my beginnings in snake-keeping I know that many of these questions that seem to be so easy to be answered are often not explained even in good books.
There are many questions concerning vitamins, the amount of food, cleaning, quarantine, winter hibernation and so on. Because I want to make it possible for my visitors to answer some of their questions themselves, I decided to create a diary, in which I will describe whatever of interest that is going to happen to me in the following year. I will put everything in a temporal context and try and write down details like statements of quantity. I want you to have what we call "I-see-experiences" in German: I see, that's what they mean. I see, this is how it is done. I see, that what I have got to do.
Also you'll find descriptions of experiences that cannot be found in many books. Examples: What to do when suddenly there are baby snakes in the terrarium. My snake is making strange movements - what does that mean? How can a course of a desease look like? These all are things that one finds interesting in the beginning as well as later on in his snake-career. I had to learn many of these things through personal experience and sometimes had to pay dearly for it. I hope that by reading what happened to my snakes you will be able to prevent some of the same problems from happening to yours.

Have fun reading this diary! I hope everybody can find something of interest for himself!
