01.10.02
Today I successfully completed the treatment of the male tetrataenia.
02.10.02
Unfortunately I’m having some difficulties making the new tetrataenia eat. The male hasn’t taken anything yet and the female only had one small smelt and three or four smelt-heads. The guy I bought them from had told me he’d feed them on smelt and mice. For some reason I got the feeling he hasn’t quite told me the truth…

Guess what! The tetrataenia female now also shows the typical signs of pneumonia. Unfortunately I don’t have any medicine left from the treatment of her brother and so I have to wait until Monday before I can pick up new antibiotics from the vet. The symptoms the female shows are much worse than those the male had. I hope that she’ll still be alive on Monday and that she’ll react just as positive to the treatment as her brother.

First thing I did this morning was going to the vet. I got the antibiotic for the female tetrataenia. I had taken the anerythristic plains female along. Again the vet tried to massage the foreign body out and this time she was successful: We were not able to tell what it was that came out there but I’ll try and describe: the thing was about as big as a thumbnail and the outside was organe/yellow. The outside was smooth and kind of felt like rubber. The vet opened it and we saw the white inside that was granular and smelled strongly like fish. My vet and I could neither explain where it was coming from and the previous keeper couldn’t help either. He had fed smelt and kept the animal on beech-chop. None of that was the reason for the strange organe something.

The female tetrataenia begins to recover. She shedded her skin.
13.10.02
Today I fed my anerythristic female again and she seemed to be quite hungry. Now I only have to wait and see if she is able to get rid of her excrements without problems.
15.10.02
Today I found a lot of „wonderful“ excrement in the drinking water of the anerythristic. I think I was never that happy about one of my snakes soiling their water.

Today was the last day of treatment for my female tetrataenia. It obviously was a success.
Now I only have to find out how to make the two want to eat. The female has taken another smelt but the male tetrataenia still refuses everything.

I talked to the guy I had met on the reptile fair in Hamm today who had also bought 1,1 tetrataenia from the same breeder as me. He gave me the hint to offer them babymice that are cut into pieces. And really, as soon as I put the mice pieces in the terrarium they took the food without hesitation and each had one mouse.
30.10.02
Today I tried offering the tetrataenia whole babymice. The female only took one after I had rubbed it in mice-pieces. The male only took pieces.
