Today I again took a closer look at my three juvenile snakes whose sex I wasn't sure about yet. The result: Without doubts all three of them are male. When buying them I thougt I was getting three females and one male... I guess I was wrong then... |

In the meantime 004 has completely changed her behavior.
While she had hidden a lot and been rather shy during the last six weeks
after the possible mating she now began to lead a different life. In the
mornings when the spot light is turned on she lies on the stone under the
spot and stays there for four hours while the light is turned on and stays
there when it goes out to enjoy the warmth of the stone. After that she climbs
on the highest plant that is closest to the fluorescent tube and spends a
big part of the day up there. By now I believe to see that she has become kind of big bellied in the middle of her body. All this looks like a successful mating. But I still have to wait and see what time brings before I can say it for sure |

Another feeding: 004 had five smelt, 005 four. Each of the juveniles had two smelt, only 006 just had one again. |

I tried offering the small snakes mice and mice-tails today. I put two babymice between the adult snakes' fish, too. Besides they got calcium. 004 tried to impress me today by eating five smelt and a babymouse. 005 took three smelt. 006 was satisfied with just one smelt again. The injury has become worse. My vet and I really don't know what to do for her. Her condition is really bad. 010 was done after three smelt, 008 had two smelt and surprisingly took a whole babymouse! and after eating two smelt 009 had a mousetail for dessert. |

Today I got back from a four day vacation and found
006 dead in her terrarium. The only possible reason I see is blood poisoning
as a result of her injury. Life goes on for the other snakes. They had smelt today. 004 took five, 005 three. The small ones each took three smelt. |
